Title: Polski reportaż. Narodowa chluba, której świat nie do końca rozumie/ A National Pride the World Doesn’t Quite Understand

The Polish poster school. Polish jazz. And Polish literary reportage, one of the most distinctive traditions in our culture.

Why can reportage be literature in Poland, and a reporter a writer? Where does the genre’s exceptional standing on the Vistula come from? And why is what seems obvious to a Polish reader often much harder to explain to publishers and readers in the English-speaking world?

Agnieszka Burton, a Polish-Australian reporter and writer, will talk about the phenomenon of Polish literary reportage, its tradition and craft, as well as her own experience of writing between Poland and Australia.

She will also discuss her book Ozland: Space Is Everything, which looks at Australia not as a postcard from the antipodes, but through the stories of people, places, memory, colonisation and the culture of the First Nations.

And she will explore what happens to reportage when it crosses not only national borders, but also the boundaries of language and different literary traditions.

Spotkanie online z Agnieszką Burton, autorką „Ozland. Przestrzeń jest wszystkim”

Polska szkoła plakatu. Polski jazz. I polski reportaż literacki – jedna z najbardziej charakterystycznych tradycji naszej kultury.
